The main tool for searching Saint Paul court dockets is Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO). It is free, does not require registration, and covers all 87 counties including Ramsey. You can run searches by person name, business name, attorney name, case number, or citation number. Each result shows the case type, filing date, assigned judge, current status, and the full register of actions for that docket.

MCRO has four search functions. Use Case Search to find a case and view its full docket register. Use Document Search to pull filed documents by case number. Use Hearing Search to find upcoming court dates. Use Judgment Search to look up money judgments by debtor name. Each tool updates in real time as new filings come in.

For in-person record access, the Records Office is at 15 W Kellogg Blvd, Room 72. Staff can locate files and process copy requests while you are there. The MCRO system also provides access through public terminals at the courthouse itself, where you can view records with more complete access than is available remotely. In-person MCRO terminal access at the courthouse is sometimes broader than remote access for certain restricted case types.

Saint Paul Court Docket Content and Access Rules

Saint Paul court docket records follow the same access rules that apply across all Minnesota district courts. Each case has a docket register showing every action taken in chronological order. This includes filings, motions, hearings, orders, and judgments. Criminal dockets show charges, bail terms, hearings, plea entries, and sentencing. Civil dockets show claims, responses, rulings, and any judgments entered. Family court dockets may have restricted entries depending on the case. Juvenile records are not open to the public as a rule under Minnesota law.

Documents filed in Saint Paul cases on or after July 1, 2015 may be available for download through MCRO's document search tool. This covers criminal, civil, and probate case types. Cases filed before that date have limited document availability, though docket entries may still be visible. Some records are sealed by court order or withheld by statute. Search warrants, civil commitment documents, and domestic abuse order filings are among the case types not accessible through MCRO's public interface.

Privacy rules under Minnesota Statute 13.84 govern which court services data is public and which is private. Street addresses for parties do not appear in MCRO results. If you need a record that is not showing up online, call the Records Office at (651) 266-8237 to ask whether it can be retrieved in person.

Note: Do not use MCRO to verify criminal history for employment or licensing purposes. Use the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension system at chs.state.mn.us for official background checks.
