Minnesota Court Records Online, known as MCRO, is the free public search tool for Apple Valley court docket records. The portal is at publicaccess.courts.state.mn.us. No account is needed. Four search tools are available.

The Case Search is the main tool. Type in a party name or a case number and filter by Dakota County. Results show each case's number, parties, filing date, case type, and current status. Click into a result to see the register of actions, which is the complete, chronological log of every filing, every hearing, and every ruling in the case. That register is the core of the public docket and is free to view.

The Hearing Search lets you look up cases scheduled for a particular court date. This is useful for confirming a hearing or finding out what cases are set on a specific day. The Judgment Search finds civil money judgments by party name. Attorneys, researchers, and parties in financial disputes use this tool regularly. The Document Search lets you locate and sometimes download specific documents filed in a case.

Restricted records do not appear in MCRO. Juvenile cases, sealed files, and records protected under Minn. Stat. § 13.84 are not in the public search. If you believe a record you need is restricted, contact the court administrator at (651) 377-7180. The Access Case Records page on mncourts.gov explains how restricted records can be requested through proper channels.

What Apple Valley Court Docket Records Include

The Apple Valley court docket is the section of the Dakota County docket that covers cases tied to Apple Valley. It is not a separate system. The same docket format applies to every case type the district court handles.

Civil cases in the Apple Valley docket include contract disputes, property matters, money judgments, and small claims. Criminal cases cover the full range from petty misdemeanors to felonies. All of these case types are searchable through MCRO.

For each case, the docket record includes the case number, party names, the assigned judge, the filing date, and the register of actions. The register is the most detailed piece available to the public. It shows every document filed by any party, every scheduled hearing and the outcome, all continuances, and every order or ruling entered by the court. This level of transparency is consistent across all case types in the Dakota County docket. Dakota County processes over 95,000 cases per year, and Apple Valley as a major suburban city contributes a significant share of that volume.
